A very intense Apollo
Welcome to the page of Border Collies by Karen. I first got into the Border Collie breed in 2002 when my husband kept insisting that I needed a Border Collie to continue to be competitive in Dog Agility. I did not want a Border Collie at first but then a little 6 week old puppy wormed his way into my heart and he has never let go since. This pup was Apollo our male. We formed a huge bond and now I cannot think of life before Borders. I have been very successful over the years in breeding many types of animals and when I realized what a wonderful temperament Apollo had I started a search for a good female to be a suitable mate for him. The search (after 1 bad choice) led me to Manitoba where I found a suitable female for him. Both my dogs come from working farms, the male from a cattle farm where his parents work cows and my female from a sheep farm where her parents work sheep. I never did any herding with my dogs as I bought them for Agility but I am seeing strong herding instincts in their first litter of pups. We are located 1 hour west of Edmonton, Alberta on an acreage. We spend hours just spending quality time with our dogs and the pups are well socialized and have had their first shots, worming and a vet check before they head to new homes. I even spend the time to start leash training on the pups.
